Mrs. Penny Givens Retirement

Fire District 8 would like to send a huge congratulations to Mrs. Penny Givens who is retiring from the Sheriffs Office. Mrs. Penny is the mother of our most senior employee, Captain Eric Givens. Enjoy your retirement Mrs. Penny. Thank you for the years of dedication to the parish and the citizens.

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Please join Sheriff Randy Smith in congratulating Sergeant Penny Givens with our Communications Division on her retirement after 27 years of dedicated service. Nineteen of those years were with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. In 2005, when the parish was crippled by the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, Sergeant Givens endured long hours, difficult working conditions, and faced numerous other challenges. In the weeks that followed, Sergeant Givens assisted in the processing of thousands of calls and keeping track of hundreds of deputies at a time, all without knowing the status of her family or the condition of her home. Sergeant Givens excelled in her duties during this difficult time, and completed all tasks at hand without hesitation or complaint. Throughout her career, Sergeant Givens remained committed to the public and her fellow deputies, and assisted in the training of several new recruits. “Sergeant Penny Givens has been a true asset to the Communications Division, the Sheriff’s Office and the parish as a whole,” Sheriff Smith said. “She will be greatly missed and all of us in St. Tammany Parish owe her a debt of gratitude. We wish her the best in her well-earned retirement.”
