A written examination will be given in approximately ninety (90) days, on a competitive basis to approved applicants for the purpose of placing names on the competitive employment list for the class of Fire Fighter/Operator in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Law and the rules of the St Tammany Fire District #8 Civil Service Board.  Application forms and a list of the qualification requirements that must be met for admission to this examination may be obtained from Janet Dufrene, at the STFD8 Station 81 located at 22455 Highway 36, Abita Springs LA 70420 or online at stfd8.com.  Completed applications must be received by Janet Dufrene, Board Secretary,  at the address given above by June 22nd, 2018 at midnight.  Approved applicants will be notified of the exact date, time, and place of the examination at least five days prior to the examination date. Please see link Competitive Exam Information for forms and applications. 


The mission of the St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District 8 is to protect lives and property through the prevention and/or mitigation of fires and other emergencies. This mission will be accomplished through a variety of Programs that are hereby established. These programs are established with life, safety, property conservation, and cost effectiveness in mind, in that order.
